Lillian Gilbreth, of Cheaper by the Dozen fame, and philanthropist-trainer Helen Storrow are the historic dolls featured in this collection of seven, including narrators Caitlin, Nancy, and Gwat, whose journals cover the onset of the Great Depression through the bombing of Pearl Harbor.

Ross's signature renderings of eleven uniforms and other fashions include Lillian Gilbreth's 1939 uniform in the new silver-green, a beloved quilted floral silk jacket worn by Helen Storrow in the well-known portrait made at her Bermuda home Fair Winds, and a Cherokee tear dress.
